Starting on May 1st Tenncare will begin sending letters to 150,000 Tennesseans who are currently recieving Tenncare benefits. 40,000 letters will be sent May 1st and this process will continue on the 1st of each month until all 150,000 have been notified.
If you received SSI (Supplemental Security Income) from Social Security after 1987, and no longer recieve these payment, you will receive a letter from Tenncare.
Advocates for this vulnerable part of our Tennessee population feel like these cuts could not come at a more diffucult time for our residents. The cuts also seem to violate the state’s terms for reciving money under the stimulus bill or ARRA(American Recover and Reinvestment Act) which says that the states medicaid roles have to stay as they were in July of 2008.
Please watch the following video to learn more about the back ground of these planned cuts. After watching, scroll down to learn what you can do to best prepare yourself, loved one or patient if faced with the potential cuts.
